A quick stop in at the local junk yard might save you a lot of money compared to a new air filter. And, even better, this ties directly into point #1. A friend of my, Robert, needed an auto part so he looked online and found a 1994 cadillac seville. The junk yard shipped him a part that was almost new and he couldn't have been happier. Just cause an air filter is used, doesn't mean it's very used!
For those who live near a car junkyard, this can be a cornucopia of auto parts. However, this can be quite time consuming, especially in large junkyards. You may have to search through hundreds of vehicles before finding the right part. It is also dirty work so wear old clothes. The advantage is the price. You can usually get the part you need at rock bottom prices and many junkyard owners will negotiate. Be sure to check out the part carefully as you can rarely return a non-working car part.
After you remove the caliper, remove the front brake pad and leave the rear pad in place. Using a C-clamp, compress the caliper piston into the caliper housing. Make sure you remove the cap off the brake reservoir before you do this. This needs to be done so that when you put the new pads in the caliper, it will create a space to put the caliper back on.
Where can you get parts when you need them? Most local hardware stores carry numerous replacement parts. You can also check with the manufacturer. And internet sites offer millions of replacement parts for thousands of items. Simply use one of the search engines (Google, Yahoo) to find dozens of sources for nearly any part for anything manufactured in the last 30 years.
